How to care for your brass sign
Our brass signs have a protective clear lacquer that helps the brass maintain its beautiful finish. This makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Keeping your sign looking its best
Brass doesn't need much looking after. When your sign needs cleaning, all you need is lukewarm water, a little mild dish soap and a soft cloth.
Gently wipe the sign clean, then dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
If you'd like to give the surface a little extra care, you can finish with a very thin layer of non-abrasive wax, such as beeswax.
A few things to avoid
Avoid brass cleaners, metal polish, strong cleaning products and anything abrasive. You should also avoid rough sponges and hard brushes, as these can scratch or damage the protective lacquer.
As long as the lacquer remains intact, it helps protect the brass. If the surface becomes scratched or damaged, the exposed brass may gradually oxidise and naturally change in colour over time.
If your sign is outdoors
Rain, dirt, sunlight and changing weather naturally put an outdoor sign through a little more wear and tear. Give it a gentle clean from time to time and make sure to dry it afterwards. This will give your brass sign the best conditions to stay beautiful for years to come.
